Ab Etching For Instant Muscles
April 13, 2007
There’s little need for diet and exercise when new plastic surgery procedures can firm pecs, sculpt calves, and create washboard abs without the hard work. The latest cosmetic surgery trend offers instant muscles and is growing in popularity among men.
Abdominal etching (a liposuction procedure that forms a muscular, rippling effect), calf implants, and pectoral implants are all designed to help men get that buff appearance without cutting out fatty foods or spending hours a day at the gym.
U.S. plastic surgeons claim that more and more male patients are booking appointments for these “enhancers,” particularly with summer only a couple of months away.
But this trend has some health and fitness experts concerned. Why would people undergo surgery to achieve a build that’s possible with a diet and exercise program?
This question, however, ignores the role genetics plays in our body shape. Some people, regardless of how much protein they eat or how many sit-ups they do, cannot genetically attain six-pack abs. This holds true with calves and pecs as well.
Even in cases in which a person is blessed with good genes, plastic surgery is about personal choice. Men, just like women, are finding it more difficult to resist enhancing or tweaking a body part to get the look they desire.
